We choose better materials, produce in small batches, and try to make responsible decisions wherever we can.
We know that no newly made garment is completely impact-free. We are not interested in vague promises or presenting ourselves as perfect. Instead, we aim to make thoughtful choices, work with responsible production partners, and be honest about both what we do well and what we can still improve.

Better materials from the start
We carefully select premium base garments for their quality, durability, and independently verified environmental and social standards.
Most of our pieces are made primarily from certified organic cotton. Certain products may also contain a small percentage of certified recycled materials, with the exact composition and fabric weight always listed on each product page.
The certifications mentioned on this page apply to the original base garments. They do not automatically extend to the inks or other materials added during the local printing process.
We believe transparency is more important than making claims we cannot fully support.
Organic cotton
The organic cotton used in our garments is certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard.
It is grown without genetically modified seeds, hazardous pesticides, or synthetic fertilisers. The certification also includes environmental and social requirements throughout the textile supply chain.
Choosing organic cotton does not make a garment entirely impact-free, but it gives us a more responsible foundation to begin with.
Recycled materials
Some Stray. pieces also contain certified recycled cotton or recycled polyester.
Using recycled fibres gives existing materials another life and reduces the need for newly produced raw materials.
The recycled materials used in our garments are certified according to the Global Recycled Standard, which verifies recycled content and includes requirements related to traceability, environmental practices, chemical use, and working conditions.
Whenever recycled fibres are used, their exact percentage is clearly listed in the product description.
Tested for harmful substances
The base garments we use carry STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification.
This means their components have been tested against limits for substances that may be harmful to human health or the environment.
This certification applies to the original garment before printing.
People matter too
Clothing cannot be considered responsible if the people making it are ignored.
The base garments we select come from a manufacturer that participates in independent social monitoring and works with long-term production partners to assess risks and improve working conditions.
This includes factory assessments, corrective action plans, and ongoing monitoring rather than relying only on one-time checks.
There is no perfect supply chain, but we choose to work with manufacturers that treat social responsibility as continuous work.
Printed locally
All Stray. garments are printed locally in Romania.
Most of our designs are created using water-based screen-printing inks, which produce a soft finish that becomes part of the fabric rather than sitting as a heavy layer on top of it.
Working locally allows us to remain close to the production process, pay attention to every detail, and maintain the quality we want for each piece.
Vegan base garments
Animal rights are not a marketing direction for Stray. They are the reason the brand exists.
The base garments we select are made from vegan materials and do not contain fibres such as wool, silk, leather, or other animal-derived materials. They are sourced from a PETA-Approved Vegan manufacturer.
Produced in small batches
We do not manufacture unlimited quantities and hope they will eventually sell.
Each Stray. collection begins with a deliberately limited number of pieces. Products are then restocked according to real demand rather than produced in large quantities from the beginning.
This may occasionally mean that a product or size sells out before it returns.
We would rather restock something people genuinely want than create unnecessary excess.
Producing in small batches also allows us to pay close attention to the quality of every product, print, and order.
Made to be worn
We choose sturdy fabrics, premium weights, and durable construction because Stray. pieces are meant to be worn repeatedly, not treated as disposable clothing.
How a garment is cared for also affects how long it lasts.
Washing only when necessary, using lower temperatures, turning printed garments inside out, avoiding tumble drying, and following the care instructions can help preserve both the fabric and the print.
Wear it often. Take care of it. Let it grow old with you.
Packaging without unnecessary excess
We keep our packaging simple and use paper-based materials.
Every order still needs to arrive safely and feel special, but we try to avoid unnecessary layers and extras created only to be thrown away.
